There are times when you need to do a lot of computer reading but you simply can't. Probably because you have eye problems or simply don't have time. What if you could study for exams while driving, for example? It seems something impossible but it really isn't. Thanks to the program 2nd Speech Center, this is now possible. 2nd Speech Center is a program that can intercept everything you copy into the clipboard and can also open various document formats, allowing you to listen to them, instead of reading them. The program can read out loud any type of text.

The program is very easy to install and can run on most versions of Windows. System requirements are not out of the ordinary, as all it's needed is a pear of speakers. The installer has an option of adding a toolbar to Internet Explorer and users should be careful about deselecting this if they don't want the toolbar into their system.

The interface is intuitive and includes the well known drop down menu, but also a graphical toolbar, that allows the user to access the program's features. The first run of the program will display three tabs containing sample texts that can be read out loud. The user just needs to select one of the many voices the program includes, adjust the speed, pitch and volume and that's it. The program will start reading the text.

Every copy paste operation will be intercepted by the program and will offer the option of importing the copied text directly into 2nd Speech Center. But the program can also open various document formats, including DOC and PDF files.

The speech can be saved as a MP3 or WAV, allowing the user to listen to it anywhere and anytime. It's like having a personalized audiobook.

Pros:
It can read the text out of many different document formats. It also intercepts all the copy paste operations and allows the user to use the text copied into clipboard. Besides that, a large number of different voices can be used for reading the text.

Cons:
The large number of options may confuse a beginner.
